Porsche Swindon or Porsche Reading

I live near as dammit equidistant from Porsche Swindon and Porsche Reading.

I’ll be needing to visit one or the other at some point, so just wondered if anyone has any experience of either/both before I decide to turn left or right out of the drive

I’ll only be engaging in relation to a 7 year old Macan for now, so it’s the service department performance I’m most interested in.

Is Porsche Reading still the main UK branch/HQ? I seem to recall it was when I was growing up - knowing they were the only place that could service the Carrera GT, and even further back I’d occasionally see rare models like 959 and various flat nose 911’s on the local roads, so I’m conscious that their focus might not be on service of ageing models. Thanks.

You would be better off, both financially and for customer service, by going to Ray Northway an independent Porsche specialist (www.northway.co.uk) based a few miles from Porsche Reading. You will also see lots of used Porsches for sale as well as other customers rare models.

If you are sticking with OPC I don’t have any experience of Reading but Swindon have been consistently excellent for me over some 15 years. I also think, based on some of the older threads re OPC charges, they are cheaper than Reading?

Another endorsement for OPC Swindon's service dept. Their charges are less than Reading and Bournemouth in my 7yrs of experience.

Independents are much lower cost though if you are outside of the Porsche warranty.

I had a great experience as a new customer to Porsche Reading, as well as being new to the brand.

Live 5 minutes from Porsche Reading but would rather drive 40 minutes to Swindon. Much cheaper and great service. Reading service department money grabbers. Second Ray Northway but usually very busy and normally 6-8 weeks wait.

Do not touch Porsche Reading with a bargepole, I purchased a Cayenne Coupe from them a few years ago and returned the car, I complained to Porsche Head Office next door and they were equally not interested.

I can recommend Dick Lovett in Cardiff their after sales and workshop staff are second no none.
