+1. I’m going to have to dispose of at least one of my bottles of “freebie” oil from OPC! :geek:

I was under the impression that oil required is C20/0w-20 for V6 3.0 and C30/0w-30 or 5w-30 for the V6 bi-turbo 2.9 if driving in Europe. Also that the sticker on the engine overrides any details in the manual. Anyone able to enlighten me as to why this is not correct?

The recommended oil for the different engines in various generations of Macan has changed over the years. What hasn't changed is the manual statement quoted above. What also hasn't changed is OPC technicians apparent inability to read what's on the sticker.

If the sticker recommends 0-30W then that's what I'd suggest is used.

Now, you see I looked in the manual and saw that the correct oil was 0W-20 but thought I'd call my OPC where Josh in parts looked up the car (they supplied it) and told me it should be 0W-20. All good.

Then I reread the manual which told me if there's a sticker under the bonnet it overrides the manual. So... I looked under the bonnet, found the sticker saying 0W-30, phoned Josh and told him about the sticker. He looked up the car again and explained that 0W-20 is definitely correct and to ignore the sticker.

Would half a litre of 20 or 30 make any real difference in the scheme of things??

No. But I'd like to clear up who's wrong... OPC or manual?

Do you mean the manual or the engine sticker? OPC could say either and still be wrong. I would have thought the sticker on the engine is correct, backed up by the manual saying the sticker supersedes the manual if different.
I’m not sure what the OPC says is relevant??

Yes, the manual says the more powerful engines use 0W-30.

But... what's on your sticker?
