Insurance isn't due till October, but when I bought the car new as it was over £85k every insurance company I checked demanded a tracker.
Given my insurance company LV was only £270 this was also significantly cheaper than any other quote.
Interesting. With Direct Line currently and likely to swap to LV. No mention of needing a tracker (though I do have a non-Vodafone one)

They don't require one for my 2018 Macan GTS, but do for my 2023 Boxster GTS 4.0.

Each time I've renewed the tracker contract I've dealt direct with Vodaphone Telematics. £476 for two years.

I would ignore Vodafoney and have installed a Thatcham approved Tracker.

Discuss the standard that they require with your Insurance Company or move to one that does not require a Tracker.

The VTS system monitored by Vodafone which is installed in the Macan is a Thatcham Cat 5 approved tracker according to the insurance certificate I have and accepted by my insurance company.
Now - Macan Turbo (MY20), Mamba Green/High Gloss Black :D
Cancelled due to COVID redundancy :-( - Macan S, Silver

Or even change Tracker and get a different one fitted with cheaper subs?

Tracker's worked well on mine and having it working increases the insurance cover, they do specify factory fitment but i guess we could negotiate a different service.

Had a few calls after being in a ferry and when i'd accidentally switched off the fob; they always seem to be efficient so far.

My concern with having a factory fitted tracker is the location, which is likely to always be in the same place. If so, it's easy for thieves to locate once it becomes known.

I've mentioned them before, and I get no reward for doing so, but Automatrics are the best tracker / stolen vehicle recovery company I have ever used, having installed hundreds of trackers for my companies fleet vehicles.

The most important thing you want from a company that you buy a tracker from, is the help they will provide if the worst happens.
Unfortunately, many tracker providers will do nothing and will expect you to use an app and recover the vehicle yourself, assuming the tracker is responding and assuming you can access the vehicle and willing to enter territory that is less than safe.

Not many companies showcase the work they do, but this is the Automatrics YouTube channel where they do just that: https://www.youtube.com/@AutomatricsMtrack/videos
