Why did you buy an import from Japan? It seems an awful lot of hassle, unless it was ridiculously cheap, and reselling it won't be easy.

100%! It shows MPH in the digital section but I’ve just bought the MPH dial, now I just have to figure out how to change it!
I'm sure I've seen a video or posting of someone who changed the dials on here somewhere or at least a link to the video.

Keep us informed, this is going to be fascinating!
Why do I sense the expectation of failure in this response… please share if you think it’s a stupid idea and it will not work, in which case I’ll save my time and buy another cluster and get it coded to the car.

Car is a 2020 Mk 2 with 8.5k miles on it and will cost 60% of the autotrader price to buy, ship, transform and get IVA tested. Will run it for a while before I move it on.

No, no, not failure, I was just imagining the whole dash having to come out to access the dial but I know nothing and wish you luck. Very interested!

Ah ok thanks - got me worried for a while. I’ve taken the dash out already so this weekend’s task will be to change the language and try work out how to get into the cluster without causing irreversible damage!! I’ll keep the forum posted - Thanks for the encouragement!

Nothing wrong with a European model being imported, usually very high specs and condition and considerably cheaper than the Uk equivalent. If you can get all the history including the auction and shipping documentation with it, Japan is exceptional when it comes to car ownership and maintenance rules. The only mod to consider is the KPH clock ( keep a record of original mileage) and good to go. Yes may resell cheaper than a Uk model but it’s the cost of ownership that matters, what’s not to like.

You said it was a 2.0 litre version, and a UK-spec car would typically sell on Autotrader for around £40K. The 2020 2.0 Macans listed in Japan seem to be about £40K FOB, so say £45K once shipped to the UK, plus all the conversion costs. You must have got a real bargain.
