Hi
Still sorting my spec, I spoke my SE the other day I am number 2 in allocation looking at January '24 possibly to lock it down.. The OPC has had all their allocations for this year. My dilemma now are the wheels. I really like the Gloss black GT wheels. I am having the car Gtechniq detailed but how do the wheels hold up with subsequent cleaning? ie swirling etc. I'm sure this has been covered, but I am struggling to find the thread.

Swirling? On a black wheel, really? I know I'm not a filtered water, multi bucket anorak but that stretches credulity too far.

Not the first and definitely won't be the last IMHO.

shut the laptop...not a bad idea. I live in the sun most of the year and in-between swims I have too much time on my hands. Im desperate to get it right but I have already seen on this forum my intended spec in pics which is crayon, and with the black I think it looks great (my opinion). Did consider white.

White was my first choice but my personal style consultant vetoed it, obviously once I'd reconciled myself to silver she changed her mind but there was no going back for me then.

Welcome Phil,
Re your first question, gloss black wheels. It will depend on the usage and surfaces driven on but the answer is Yes, you will get fine scratches and swirls over time that will be noticeable in any bright sunlight. You can minimise this with very careful washing (pressure wash, limited contact soft wheel brushes, two buckets etc) but it depends on how particular you are, they can still look glossy black just don’t look to closely. Crayon is a good shout, (but others will have different opinions). Put up your code for everyone to comment 😵‍💫 Keep us amused for hours. 👍

Are you changing other details (sideblades, door handles, etc.) to Gloss Black? If yes the Gloss Black wheels will tie in nicely.

In my view, the solution then is to wash the wheels carefully to try and minimise scratches and if at some point the scratches are troubling your OCD tendencies (I have them but not so much for my car :D ) then simply get the wheels re sprayed and start again.

An alternative maybe is Satin Black, but the extra £500ish for them will pay for one re spray sometime down the line.

PS - my wife’s Boxster has Gloss Black wheels, I’m sub-consciously going to start looking for scratches on them now!
