4 faults all at once. Any idea what's broken?

Hi all,

I'd be grateful for some help. I was driving down the motorway yesterday and my car (2014MY Macan SD) seems to have suffered some sort of catastrophic electronics failure. With four warning popping up all at once. I had to drive a couple more times on the day and I'd usually get about 10-15 mins into the drive before the same thing would happen again. However, it would be faultless before them providing I'd let the car sit for a while. On the motorway I felt a slight stutter then could continue after the faults. It happened a couple of times on local roads and in those instances I would have to restart the engine to drive on but still with the faults. The car still drove fine but with various settings switched off and a slightly different character with the brakes not biting as hard and a much looser front end with the all wheel drive off. It also switched off things like the start/stop engine function, cruise control and being able to lock the brakes by pushing down on the pedal and letting go (I missed that last one dearly!)

The faults were:
1. "No all -wheel drive sys. Only rear-wheel drive. Adapted driving permitted"
2. "Fault Parking brake"
3. "ABS/PSM failure. Adopted driving permitted."
4. "Suspension system fault. Adopted driving permitted". The car has air suspension and the height adjustment seemed to work fine after this.

It also made the dash light up like a Christmas tree!

I've added pictures to the post.

I'm going to call a garage asap to look at it as I've an RAC gold warranty, but it means checking it into a non-Porsche specialist (unless anyone know an RAC registered one near Bristol!) Warranty will cover the replacement parts but I'll have to pay by the hour for them to do the diagnostics so would at least like to be able to recommend a couple places they should check.

So:
1. Does anyone know what could have caused this? The passenger seatbelt light has also come on but I don't know if it's connected as I vaguely recall seeing it pop up before.
2. Does anyone know a good RAC garage near Bristol they'd recommend?

Thanks!

I had very similar faults pop up on a previous BMW (about five warning lights from memory). I thought the whole car electronics system had somehow failed but it turned out to be a single faulty brake sensor.
Sometimes a failed sensor can create multiple “faults” but I’m sure somebody will come on here with more insight than me.

If you are still on the original battery I would have a look at that. I let my battery go quite low once and had a similar barrage of fault lights when I eventually managed to get it re-started.

If not battery, perhaps look at alternator/charging system.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll book it into a garage and ask them to start there. Classic Macan. It’s like it stubs its toe and screams like it’s dying!

My wife's Golf R had the same sort of christmas tree warning lights come on over about 5 minutes on the outside lane of a motorway just recently....turned out to be a rear wheel offside ABS wheel sensor....quick easy fix...

Had the same error messages very recently. Diagnosed as faulty ABS sensor.

I have had that once in my Macan.

It happened after the car had stood in the garage for a month without use, started OK but fifteen minutes into the journey the faults came up, it did not go into Limp Home Mode so I stopped got out of the car, locked it, waited a few minutes then started the car and drove on.

Two years later there has been no re-occurrence nor any faulty components.

I did have a similar issue in my Jag but that was a fault on an engine sensor, I had to wait six weeks for the Jag Dealership to have a service slot. Hence will never buy another Jag and they have lost out on the three new car purchases that I have made since.

Get them to replace all 4 ABS sensors. They are very cheap and easy to replace. I did all 4 myself. One has failed and the others won't be long behind.
