I received the following email this morning, is this normal as I have read lots of moans and growns regarding the lack of updates regarding delivery. I ordered my S mid Aug 22.

Whilst we do not have a build slot for your car, I would like to firstly introduce myself as the new car coordinator within the Porsche Centre Perth, I will be working alongside your SE in the build-up to your car arriving with us, giving you regular updates via email or telephone and as frequent as you would like. If you could advise your preference and I can then organise accordingly.

The email was a bit longer with links to gap insurance, tyre and wheel insurance etc.

The SE has also been in touch to say they have a Macan with the 47P wheels, i I am going to have a look tomorrow.

Never received anything like this myself, but Perth may be doing something different.

They'll probably push quite hard regarding GAP and wheel / tyre insurance. Always cheaper elsewhere.

Makes sense, employ someone cheaper than an SE to provide updates so SE can focus on sales and then reward them for upselling GAP, wheel insurance, Swisscrap(I mean Swissvax) etc

Agreed. With an eye to profit, the OPC must be hoping that the New Car Coordinator will justify their existence by upselling various lucrative add-ons.

If it’s a success, no doubt other OPCs will follow suit...

I received a very similar e mail and yes it contained links to the various wheel, gap etc policies. I managed to negotiate the wheel and tyre policies to be included in my deal

I don’t want any of the add-ins but to be kept in the loop wrt the build and delivery time frame will be handy.

Blimey, the delays must be envisaged to be bad if it requires recruiting a 'New Car Coodinator' :D

Will probably have the knock on effect of less complaints also as even without delays Porsch SEs are awful at giving updates. They could just automate updates though….

Perth are part of the Peter Vardy group, sold a Macan to them in 21 they outbid all other traders at the time and I found them easy to deal with. Maybe it’s one of their own initiatives.
