New report from Auto Car:

Macan EV.jpg

The launch of the new Porsche Macan electric SUV has been delayed for a year because of slower than expected software development within the wider Volkswagen Group.

The Macan EV will be one of the first production cars to use Porsche and Audi’s Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, but Porsche has now confirmed that it won’t be released until 2024.

Problems surrounding the production of the E3 1.2 software platform by Cariad, the software division of the Volkswagen Group, are partly to blame for that delay.

A bit of trivia. Cariad is Welsh for "Darling". Probably not the best name for software that seems to be tanking.

Love the wheels on the image above, but can't see them being very good for range on an EV.

But the image is presumably just Autocar’s impression of what it might look like, rather then anything sourced from Porsche.

Yep. A bit of a photo-shopped merge between the current Macan & Taycan.

Having recently taken delivery (new GTS),I view this as good news personally as it means my car should have additional (‘current model’) longevity pending the introduction of EV model in 2024.I wonder how long they will sell both ICE & EV for - any views ?

I have seen only a year's overlap suggested for Europe

Porsche will continue production of Macan ICE for developing markets that don’t have CO2-gestapo controls.
