I will finally pick up my S next week (ordered in Oct 21). I got the invoice and saw that my OPC charges £400 for a Swissvax application. I was wondering is that Swissvax worth anything, should I take it? I was planning to get a Gtechniq ceramic coating, but now wondering whether I should just let them do the Swissvax?

Personally I’m not a fan of any dealer applied cleaning/protective product. Its not done by experts in such things. Mine offered Gtechniq for £600 but if you really want a ceramic coating its worth getting done by a company that specialises in such things. In my opinion after market ceramic sprays by turtlewax etc are just as good and save a fortune. My car is just as shiny as it was when I took delivery last Dec. I personally enjoy cleaning it anyway

Dealer applied finishes are only EVER worth it if they are FOC.

It would be a sub optimal solution.

Swissvax products having used them personally are very poor quality when compared with far more affordable options like those from chemical guys. As for £400 for some application I asked my dealer to remove it, the car still turned up clean and you are taking it to a dealer for ceramic coating anyway.

If you’re serious about ceramic coating go to a specialist. I like IGL Kenso. Not cheap but will still be working 5+ years time.

Not sure about that either. Once had a black car and they added so many swirl marks applying their protection the bonnet had to be dealt with by a detailer to get rid of them!

Very true.

Before I knew any better and when I bought the SD the OPC offered a new ceramic coating for £200, it was 2016 and it was an obscure product.

When we collected the car it looked great there were zero swirl marks but there was residue in one area.

Their bodywork guy came took out a rather dirty looking cloth out of his pocket and removed the residue.

Ever since I have not allowed an OPC to clean my car.

As per the other comments find a top-end detailer and get a ceramic coating.

The dealers are not trained to do such work and will do a poor job

A basic New Car detail is £600 for an SUV with a good quality ceramic. Asking the dealer to do it because it is convenient is like asking the detailer to change the brake pads while your car has the wheels off for the detail.
