I’d love to get a nearly new one now and if the premium wasn’t so much, I think I would. But in some cases, I think it’s approaching £25k and that’s just too much to lose once the market stabilises in a year or two (fully accept Macans hold their value better than the vast vast majority of cars, but against rrp, not the temporarily inflated price).
I will look at the Gen 2 Turbo but I suspect I’ll find inflated prices there too. And I will try and spec out a Gen 3 S, but on that, there is something special about the GTS - looks, feel, options that I otherwise find hard to justify etc. But definitely worth configuring to see.
Ultimately, best case is a phone around the different franchises and hope for a shorter lead time - I’ve started this and I’m down to end 2023 delivery - will keep going!
Thanks again.
I think the message in that video is that the GTS is just not special enough. It is literally an S with options plus an alleged extra 60 bhp from exactly the same engine. Even official performance figures are within 0.3 of a second difference!
It is easy to spec an S to look pretty much identical to a GTS if that’s what you want to do but personally I would just go for the options you want rather than what you are forced to have.
Of course to do this will have a cost attached and the GTS will hold its value better, but you won’t be paying a silly premium on list 🤔

Not much point speccing an S to look like a GTS as it's still an S underneath. Most buyers probably don't let video footage influence their decision. They assume that when Porsche produce a GTS version of one of their cars it has something "Special" over the rest of the range. Whether or not this is true, only you can decide. But if you really want the GTS don't let the prospect of earlier ownership tempt you to the S as you will always regret it...

That’s the point Mack, that “assumption” is severely tested in the case of the Macan, because there is nothing that particularly differentiates it from the S with the same engine!
Now, if even Porsche can’t find more than a third of a second between them and then don’t even put any unique features on the GTS, that “special” assumption is questionable.
Other model GTS variants are truly special in comparison but certainly not the Macan I think.
This is not a GTS bashing view (I know you are incredibly sensitive 😂) just the facts of the situation and a tip of the hat to Porsche marketing. As I’ve said before, the GTS will keep its value better so no harm done here, I just think it’s a shame they didn’t do it properly like they have done with the Cayenne for example…

Sensitive? This is only a metal box on wheels, I've had over 40 cars so far and none of them hold much sentimental value once gone as I often prefer the excitement of waiting rather than the enjoyment of having. Either way the Op wants the GTS and there's nothing this forum can do or say to change his mind...

PS. Not sure 0-60 is really what it's all about. Leave that to the Boy Racers...

Firstly I’m not knocking S or base models but there is more than just 60bhp difference. The GTS also has suspension specific to the GTS that cannot be obtained in an S or a base model and PSCB as standard, unique trim that is not available in other models and the Gucci spoiler and moniker on the boot.

I did start out my Macan journey looking to buy a base model but by the time I had specced it to what I wanted I had gone passed and S and a GTS made more financial sense.

I did have to wait nearly a year for my car and can understand why a 2 year wait might put someone off. But I can’t quite see the point in speccing an S, or a base, to make it look like a GTS that it will never be and end up spending more money in doing so?

Clearly some people can’t wait hence the premium for the cars but that’s simple economics.

Amen to that brother but think I you've inadvertently knocked over a can of worms 😊

How much are they going for over list?

That one at Leicester with the not inexpensive Python spec and a whole load of other decent options looks fantastic.

At £90k it can't be that much over, can it?
