A couple of asides :

I test drove a Volvo C40 Recharge (all Electric, 404 BHP) and the acceleration was phenomenal (made me almost laugh out loud)

I have watched a number of videos on You Tube recently made by disgruntled EV owners (e.g. Audi e-tron) who are getting rid of their EVs because the charging network is dire. One of them could no longer take the anxiety he was developing every time he was going to a charging station, where many chargers would be out of order, or unable to take payment and the process usually took an hour - 1/2 hour queueing, 1/2 hr charging (Not to mention the hassle from his wife questioning his sanity in buying an EV now rather than in 5 years time).

With EV cars generally £10,000 more than the ICE equivalent and a crap charging network , I don't see how the Gov't. is going to stop ICE sales by 2030

I know my Gen 1 Turbo is expensive to run, but with the cost to change on top of the above issues, I'm sticking with it for now.
My neighbour three doors away has had a Tesla 3 performance for around six months now. I asked him if he was happy that he had access to the Tesla network but he said he’d never charged it anywhere except at home!
May be when you get a genuine 300 to 350 mile range, the charging “network” will become moot… 😳

^^^ Genuine range will need to be a minimum of 400 miles for me before I’m tempted. I regularly have a day trip to Kent to see my daughters = 350+ miles. :geek:

Would be easier to stick a wall box in at your daughters… 😂

Friend of mine changed his Audi A5 for a Kia EV6 GT Line. Has told me today that he has done a deal for them to buy it back (after 3k miles) as he gets no where near decent range from it. It is now a done deal an his ICE replacement lands in August.

Oh its absolutely will, otherwise it just becomes mad max. I can definitely see them having Rimacs, and Tesla plaids with body kits. If they dont then they wont be able to get away from the baddies when they start using base level Model 3’s.

BTW, the point made earlier in the thread about the EV Macan being £100k doesn’t overly surprise me BUT if they stop making ICE Macans and the only model they have starts at £100k its going to leave a massive hole in the Porsche fashion, sorry, model range. As everyone knows the Macan makes a very large chunk of Porsche money so they can put it all towards selling silly clothes, designer watches and ridiculous bikes, rather then infotainment, sat navs, apps, and transfer boxes that actually work. So they’ll need to either keep ICE Macans, which seems unlikely given how pre-historic they are in car terms, or very rapidly bring out cheaper variants of the EV

For me range is the biggest issue, but they will get that sorted relatively quickly I suspect. Look how much that’s changed in the last 5 years

Odd, all the long term tests say the exact opposite… 🤔

Range will not improve significantly until battery technology takes a proper step forward. Really different chemistry or solid state to drastically increase power density, reduce mass and volume. 2.5 tonnes for a family car is ludicrous..........

He told me he got 180 to a 'fill' despite it going back on a number of occasions for 'tweaking'
