Hi, just bought my first Macan 2016 SD and have loads of questions! First one is I am baffled by car play or rather the lack of it. Car was registered March 2016 but is a MY17. I was hopeful that it might have car play and reference on spine of the the user manual (WK 95B 02 20 17) and checks against VIN all confirm MY 17 but despite this I cannot seem to enable car play. I am fairy competent with these things normally but perhaps I’m missing something! Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Depends if the original owner spec'd connect plus which would give carplay. If not and you have PCM 4.0 you can have it activated. Official route £500ish I think, aftermarket/specialist £150ish.

My 66 plate my17 didn’t have CarPlay but I had it enabled by a third party. Also had the map software updated to 2022 version.

200euros plus £20 for a Ethernet/usb adaptor from Amazon. All done remotely via Internet PC sharing

There are HUGE threads on the subject in both the US Macan forum and the 718 Boxster forum.

The problem Ivan was that at that time the SE staff knew zilch about the Infotainment systems.

We on this forum knew more about the system than they did by a considerable margin, that says something as, well add in the ending.

Two things, take a look under the drop down flap and see if there is a SIM card slot.

For info, Connect+ is eventually a subscription based system for live traffic and a few other goodies, the SIM slot was for a customer sourced data SIM card which was for the in car WiFi and streaming services.

So do check what part of these features the third party hack provides

The SEs continue to play dumb even today.

Not many buyers now that on the 718 the nav modulle is present even when not added as an optional extra, and just needs some remote coding to enable it - saves ca £900 over specing it at build !
