Agreed, they get their deposit monies to help with their cashflow and make money on the sale of second hand cars and servicing....my source was a senior exec in the car leasing / finance business who needs the cars.....he was very gloomy! I came away very depressed due to the realisation I will have to wait c.18 months ++ for my S dispite ordering mid last yearAlfanut wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 6:41 pmno dealers will go bankrupt. Most are currently posting record profits. Their margins are bigger right now, discounting has stopped (well for Audi/BMW/etc as Porsche never seemed to have the word in their vocabulary!) and for the cars that are in demand, as soon as you make an enquiry they immediately judge you for the profit factor they can extract from you “and will Sir be buying on finance?”Bluesnose1812 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 5:40 pmWhy would they want to bankrupt their UK dealer network?
Are Porsche actually making any new cars at the moment?

Ah yes - the Cuban business model. Forget new car sales we will make money servicing them for the next 50 yearsAlfanut wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 6:41 pmno dealers will go bankrupt. Based on this forecast some used Macan models will soon be in £100k territory. I for one thought that would never happen. But now...

Disconcerting for you folks with new cars in the pipeline, fingers crossed things ease and your wait times reduce.
When the Macan GTS was first released demand soared and some OPC’s were quoting 18m+ waits and reputedly some stopped taking deposits although that I found hard to believe at the time. Things eased the following year and one member did get their’s and brought it to the Cheshire meet.

Seems like my decision to buy a 2nd hand low mileage S may have been a good one. Enjoying the car so much, superb drive.

I was face to face in our OPC on Saturday 23rd. When I asked about production, essentially it was as above, so a little is getting through whilst they relocate the wireloom production facility: which as an ex-engineer I know is not an easy task. So, odd Macan may make it this way, but don't expect a sudden glut of anything.
Dealers are struggling to keep the sales staff meeting sales targets as all they are really shifting is used models, which are very hard to source for stock. Sales staff are being hit in their pockets, and whilst I'm not crying for them, it has to be recognised.
The GTS itself was as previously mentioned by a post as being under pressure. This is due to the increased number of semiconductors required on a GTS, and explains why an S build with no air suspension is available faster, and a base model quicker still.

Just been told its very unlikely I will see my Sept ordered Macan S this year.....there's even a small chance Porsche may start cancelling orders, but how much truth there is is this I don't know........
