Hello
On a slight whim, have just committed to a 5 month old 2.0 macan. Should collect towards end of the month. My first Porsche.
I normally spend quite some time researching and considering such a major purchase, but my previous car lease just ended (BMW i8) I was in the need of something more practical, interesting and relatively soon.

I really wanted to go full electric, but frankly nothing with decent range, within budget that grabbed me, or was available in an acceptable timescale was forced to consider the good old combustion engine options. Considered a few Macan’s from local and national dealers (although anything with good spec was being snapped up very quickly) and finally secured the right one this week.

I’m fortunate to have had some great and interesting cars over the years, including the original NSX, MG RV8, Jaguar XF, various BMW 6 series, and hope the Macan will prove entertaining, reliable and reasonably practical (can’t be worse than the i8 in that regard!)

Hope I’ve made a good decision, time will tell.

I’ll be lurking and chiming in from time to time.
Cheers

Welcome aboard

Apart from the practicality, how did you get on with the i8? I was so tempted on a few occasions!

Welcome.

Fingers crossed for you that the options added to the car originally will meet your expectations for the comfort and ride quality of a Macan is dependent upon its configuration.

Looking at the cars you have had prior, the Macan will be a challenge to meet the performance you are used to. It is not a low slung sports car but a two tonne SUV and whilst it is best in class (just about) it has its foibles.

Good luck.

Thanks all.
The i8 is a great car for 2 people, but forget the rear “seats”, they can only realistically be used to stow extra luggage. For my use, the car was spot on, but would be impossible as an only car. Having said that, performance in sport mode is exciting, especially driving on the paddles, but it’s not a sports car! Was 100% reliable during my 3 years of leaseship, and servicing was infrequent and included in my lease deal.I found I rarely used the full performance once the initial novelty had worn off.

I appreciate the Macan will be substantially different, but I now need a more practical car for the next few years, and as stated before can’t wait for a full electric type Mpv. Anyway, nothings permanent, so I’ll see how it fits after a few months of ownership, which I’m looking forward to.

Pics to follow once in my hands.

A lot of "4 seater" sports cars have rear "seats" that are only useable if you have no legs

Look forward to pics :D
