Afternoon all
Had the new Macan S for a couple of months now and happy to report that we really like it. Was pleasantly surprised to see the returned MPG on the motorway when sat at 74/76 MPH..........
Gen 3 S Motorway MPG
Good to see, the demo GTS I had for a day didn't manage to get over about 24mpg, however it was pretty much brand new with about 200 miles on it.
The jump in petrol prices is going to prove painful now I'm moving back to a 20mpg daily. My Vantage will do 30mpg fairly easily on a motorway run if kept at sensible-ish speeds, so I was hoping the Macan would be at least as good as this if not better, perhaps wishful thinking!

With a tailwind I'd guess!

...and what do you get on the return journey? Several times I've had it showing over 30mpg going to Hull (downhill with prevailing wind behind) but nowhere near on the return, seriously! Although possibly I was a bit keener to get home to bed than I was to get to Hull.....

Return journey, I have averaged 30 every trip. Looks like the Gen 3 S returns a little better MPG that the Gen 2? It has improved after the running in period tbh.Neil1911 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 28, 2022 2:37 pm...and what do you get on the return journey? You'll soon have your new one Neil! Maybe a coffee when you get yours....
Not bad at all. How many miles have you done so far? My S has done 1500 miles since mid January so still in the engine break-in period but I do average about 30mpg.

Pretty good with an S, that.
Another great route for getting that sort of mileage (I managed 30.7mpg) is Penrith to Preston, down the M6. About the same distance, same speed, same length of time too.
Very much thanks to gravity (going downhill all the way) that is, though, coupled with ultra-feathering to the extent of not moving your foot, just sitting on the top point of the loud pedal.
(Not coasting tho', I culled that option!)
And that's the best I've ever had it at. But sadly not very real-world and certainly not exciting.
Real-world motorway driving, I find it resolutely sits at 27mpg.
Big-fun journeys: long sweeping roads, much more real-world with good line of sight / overtaking conditions mixed with tight gradients and twisties (think A9 Inverness to Thurso, again around 100 miles), then about 20-22mpg .
