Just had my insurance renewal quote from Admiral.

Down by just over 35% from last year!

This year’s premium is just over half of the best quote emailed to me by confused.com! :)

I wonder whats driven that, perhaps after covid they hedged their bets a bit with higher prices but they've now stabilised?

I paid as much in insurance last year as I did the very first time I bought insurance after I passed my test at 17. I'm now 32!!

Thanks to London prices and buying a silly thief magnet Audi S3

I’m hoping it’s not a mistake!

However, most of my saving has now been swallowed up by a new charge by my OPC for wheel storage...

New legislation has come in which means they shouldn’t be offering you inflated renewals like they used to - they are meant to offer the same price as new customers. If people have accepted renewal prices in previous years then this year might be a pleasant surprise.

I have been with NFU since I bought the Turbo and this years quote was up by £120.

A couple of days before the auto renewal kicked in I rang them and instructed them to cancel the auto renewal as the cost was to high.

The NFU guy asked what I was willing to pay so I said half of the premium they were wanting.

He came back and said OK.

So I said with the full breakdown cover and recovery to the garage of my choice and a loan car which is what I had prior.

He came back and said OK.

So one reasonably happy bunny here.

Just added my 22 year old son as a named driver and it was an additional £400. I was expecting it to be insanely expensive. I thought that was pretty reasonable for someone thats only had a license for 5 years and is still at Uni. Now he can drive us home from the pub 😊

Cancelled my Admiral policy and went with direct line.
I was changing Macan's on the policy and ended up with the joy of an Indian call centre.
Half an hour of banging my head against a brick wall I cancelled and went Direct line.
Same price.
