I had a tyre plugged and it passed the 111 check.

My tyre problems were on a Boxster 981 S.
When I took it for the 111 point check they refused to cover it as two tyres had been repaired with plugs. One I knew about and had done not realising that it would fall foul of warranty extension rules. The other must have been present when I had picked up the car from an OPC with 2 years cover !
The problem was made worse because there were no N0 front tyres in country as they had been discontinued so I would have to buy two new N1 tyres for the front.
This would have also been rejected as then front and rear axle would be different, N0 v. N1. So four new tyres would have been needed.
This is where I and OPC's parted company. I now have it serviced by an independent Porsche specialist.
In effect if you get a puncture you need a new tyre if you want to continue extending the warranty although I am sure other OPC's would take a more lenient view.

Half the inconsistencies must be down to human error, they have to spot the plug first and some are more obvious than others. Regardless, applying racing car standards to road cars is excessive.

Completely valid! Touch wood have not had a puncture!!On-Track wrote: ↑Mon Mar 07, 2022 9:36 amThe question "Should I order a spare?" has been debated to death on the forum. So far, there is no sign of agreement except to agree to disagree.
Just a few points to consider. 1. Where will you put the punctured wheel after you've fitted the spare? It won't fit in the well that the collapsible spare sits in. 2. Do you want to be jacking up a two ton car on the flimsy little jack that is provided? 3. When was the last time that you had a puncture that left you stranded?
In case you haven't guessed, I'm with the gunk and compressor brigade.
I will keep these points on board and see if a heated windscreen is a better option.
Cheers Malc!
