Hi,
Looking at a possible 2016 Macan SD. The advert says nothing about CarPlay so I have to assume it’s not there.
Is there anything else that I should look out for that would allow me to get Porsche to install CarPlay?

Secondly, am I correct that all 2017 have the capability of having CarPlay? Or similar to above do I need other items to exist?

Thanks

An early 2016 SD might be one of the last with the initial infotainment system that had the smaller LCD panel and no car play.

In most 2016 Macans’ the Connect system either standard or the plus version was a paid for option and certainly the + system includes Car Play, I cannot remember what was included with the standard connect system.

An OPC will be able to confirm the actual as supplied spec by keying the VIN into their system.

If the SD does have connect, some services are chargeable as per the link.

Thanks Col
I don’t think I’ll always be in the position to get the VIN so am hoping there’s something definitive to look out for that will allow CarPlay to be added.

How about 2017 models, do they have CarPlay as standard? Or at least allow you to add it at a later date?

Thanks
Colin.

I think you're right, yes, 2017 onwards CarPlay is standard

My Turbo was MY17 car delivered in September 2016 and didn’t have Connect, so no CarPlay, as standard. I think it became standard for cars delivered from March 2017, but that needs checking.

^^^ yes I had it in my May 2017 registered Macan. I did have to spec and pay for SatNav as an OE extra.

By far the easiest option for you to be sure if Car Play is included is to take your iPhone mobile and the lead from your charger and plug it in to the USB socket inside the armrest.

When the car is started a pop up message will ask if you want to use Car Play.

BTW there may be some USB sockets on the rear outside of the armrest, these are for charging only, they have no data capabilities.
