As said, I believe that not all Macans get a transfer box failure so it just appears to your luck or bad luck. Not even sure if it is anything to do with driving style.

Might be worth having a word with your local OPC to put your mind at rest.

PS Lovely looking Macan :D :D :D
Thank you! I’d originally wanted black, but the grey is actually sooo nice! Let’s hope my luck holds :)

The grey will be much easier to keep clean. Black is lovely but a nightmare to keep clean

Volcano is almost black anyway. It's a pity they don't allow Quartzite grey metallic that the Cayennes get. It looks absolutely stunning on those, especially with the black trim pack thingy.
My SE reckons they're going to pull Quartzite and go Volcano across the board. They must be nuts if true.

Hiya,
For what it's worth, I've done 139k and my second one is still intact.
It's my second one because I have regularly bemoaned the 4WD traits (below) and at 57,000mi Porsche Bristol changed out the transfer box to try and remedy it.
Not that the box was faulty, but just the next in a list of things to try to put the issues to bed.
If it did, it was only momentarily, with the described features reappearing later on.

I will pick up on your comment "it feels a bit like it WILL happen at some stage" - I don't know what precipitated your comment (whether by experience or media-hype), but I would say that the Macan's 4WD system isn't perfect (🙄).
I feel it sometimes needs more torque to tractive wheels on slippery surfaces and less torque when driving on tight corners; parking and junctions, especially when cold when it will quite readily skip the back wheels or "clack" (what is that??) the front.
To be fair, changing the transfer fluids make a difference (this has been done twice), but again, not for long. For now, the various drive shafts and gears are quiet and unless they start rumbling, moaning and vibrating I'm not going to worry.
If driving it hard, you can feel the rear-wheel bias which is good enough for me!

Cheers
Mark

Speaking as the owner of a volcano grey Macan I can categorically say it is no easier to keep clean than black. Looks great when its nice and shiny though. Definitely the best colour on a Macan ( oh, right, we’ve done that one….. )

By far the best colours for not showing the grime is Dolomite Silver and the now discontinued Sapphire Blue.

I sort of regret getting Met Black.

Cleaned mine, did 50 miles, it now looks like crap, so another job for Sunday.

I agree with that, having owned several silver cars. And to add to the whole discussion, I cleaned mine this morning…..and then it rained. I have no idea what accompanied the water in the rain but my car now looks like its been parked in the Sahara for a month 🥺

Yesterday I cleaned and polished my Volcano grey macan. Yesterday afternoon and last night it rained, only a little. Sadly this is the result.

A quick update had the first signs of failure as noted above on 25k OPC acknowledged the problem and did a lube change which solved the judder. On about 40k took it back in trying to get them to take the bait and swap the box out as this coincided with the end of the 2023 extended warranty, but they weren’t going for it as there wasn’t much sign of a problem. On 52k the judder returned and I now go to a local specialist as the OPC nearest me is really awful, only keen to take orders for new cars! The specialist change the lube again at my cost which I’m happy to pay than suffer the humiliation of the smugness of the OPC. The local guys are better on the info side as well and said Porsche ongoing development has changed the lube since the first swap out and it running great again. Guess I’m happy to continue like this (hope I don’t regret saying that and expect a bill every 20-30k rather than argue with the OPC in Devon. That reduces the risk of me naming names as they not exactly at reg intervals down here!

On the leaking/blocked pano drains issue - since I paid the local specialist £140 to cut off the bottoms Ive never had a recurrence - when I took the initial problem to the OPC they wanted an ESTIMATE of £2600 to investigate and dry out the mats etc.
