Hi,

Can anyone help me out. Where can you get smaller number plate holders for the new Macan S, my plates are 16” x 4.4” rather than the standard 20.5” x 4.4”

Thanks in advance
Steve

I've got a smaller plate on the rear of my Macan without a plate holder and a standard sized plate on the front using the original holder. Did try for smaller plate on the front but the original holder is the only that would fit on there.

Is it worth it for the attention you might get from Plod? Saw on one of the Police programmes on the telly recently an officer giving a guy with a Ferrari a ticket - three points and a £100!

It's the lettering and the spacing that has to be correct, not the size of the plate.

Had this size plate on all my cars for the last 5+ years with no issue at all from Mr/Mrs Plod.

Plus it's MOT legal so no issues there either.

I have short plates on my Boxster as I have a 5 digit registration plate, I had the plates made up as per the law with the correct spacing etc, it is just the plate that is shorter. Never had a problem with being plodded on.

If letter size, font, colour and spacing are correct it's legal, but many are not!

My wife has a plate where the spacing is “illegal” in order to spell her name etc. She has to change it over at MOT’s but has never been stopped or spoken to once in 25 years!
Lucky I guess.

I once got pulled over by Mr & Mr Plod when I had an ‘italic’ number plate. :(

The place I bought it from told me it was legal. This was many years ago. On my company car, a Rover 600.

At least they refunded my money when I went back...

Some of the German style metal plates look quite cool. 😎

A neighbour of mine has the characters in 3D relief and that looks nice - wasn’t that standard years ago??
