Petrol cars will be around for years to come. It's not even 2030 yet, let alone the many years after that. Unless someone is desperate for a phase 1 EV Macan, don't see any need to sell up for a long time to come.

Only until April 2025 when the 100% tax allowance for businesses ends and the benefit in kind rates go up. . The majority of premium EV sales are company purchases.

I’m a private Macan buyer like the dozens already on the lists at Porsche Dealers most have over 50 deposits for electric Macans. Sold my GTS recently for top money and gave up slot for a new one. I can charge at home from solar or battery or via overnight cheap tariff at between 1 and 2p a mile. So 300 miles costs me between £3 and £6. Cost of tank of super unleaded heading towards £150. And no road tax etcBluesnose1812 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 1:13 pmOnly until April 2025 when the 100% tax allowance for businesses ends and the benefit in kind rates go up. . When I asked my SE about deposits for the new Macan EV, he said the official order books simply are not open yet. So anyone taking deposits it’s a pen a paper list and a nice bit of extra cash in the bank for the dealership. My SE said as soon as the books are open for orders he’ll give me a call. Don’t think I’d personally want to be on a random list along with god knows how many others, as soon as the order book opens you’ll be even further down the list. I logged my letter of interest with an OPC for a Cayman 'RS' back in Jan 2006, in the event that such or similar model be launched. So whilst not taking deposits they will have a list of potential parties - whether they stick strictly to the order they receive interest is perhaps less guaranteed.
I spoke with someone who told me some dealers are taking an ‘off the books’ £1k to be put on the official list when the books open?Percymon wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 2:26 pm I logged my letter of interest with an OPC for a Cayman 'RS' back in Jan 2006, in the event that such or similar model be launched. Absolutely bonkers.

My next car WILL be a plug-in. But NOT a Porsche. Probably revert back to Audi or Mercedes as can't see the point of over spending on EV powered transport.

When significant numbers move from petrol/diesel to EVs, The Treasury will be losing an absolute fortune in fuel duty and VAT (tax is nearly half the cost of fuel) so, as sure as eggs are eggs, they’ll be getting that money from elsewhere, be that electricity charges or tolls for using the roads etc...
Same with traditional road tax; that’ll either start to apply to EVs, or some kind of road tolls/tax per mile driven will take over.

The problem is that EV’s development is so rapid. The Taycan is among the very best but even this has been surpassed now. The EV6 GT for example is as quick as a Taycan S but with more spec than it is possible to option the Porsche with and all for HALF the cost!
This is happening with other makes too and much of the engineering wizardry associated with Porsche excellence is obsolete because there is no ICE.
Don’t think I would order a Macan EV unless it offers some sort of USP that the market can’t match.

You are absolutely spot on there Jon, coming from a new high spec X5 myself, the conversation with the SE was interesting when I was asking the most basic spec questions when building the Macan, with him saying “yeah Porsche doesn’t have anything like that but, the engine is a peach and you’ll love driving it” will find out the answer to that question later in the week.Jon A wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 4:17 pm The problem is that EV’s development is so rapid.
