If you red line a 3.0l turbo OR a 4.0 NA in third gear or above you are over the speed limit. Ergo, the slightly higher gearing in the 4.0l makes no difference in the real world as you will need a lower gear to get the drama and stay legal - or just floor it in a higher gear and get more drama but obviously over speed limit
So my query was why would slightly higher gearing make such a difference on the road? It’s a legitimate question, I’m not trying to be clever, I have never owned a 4.0 NA engine so am curious…
What is attracting you to Carrera T?Gibberish wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:22 pm I have my name down for a potential 992 Carrera T, i have absolutely everything crossed that it'll be a 4.0, failing that I'll stick with a Boxster 4.0.
I just think what an amazing car it would be, a true unicorn.. then I'll wake up and see the T released with the 3.0T.

The T formula with the 992 body, I've heard many do not like the 992 for being too big and too much tech but i love the way it looks and appreciate the tech.Pivot wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 9:00 amWhat is attracting you to Carrera T?Gibberish wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:22 pm I have my name down for a potential 992 Carrera T, i have absolutely everything crossed that it'll be a 4.0, failing that I'll stick with a Boxster 4.0.

I like the idea of 911 Dakar (ex Safari)
Not yet driven a car with the 9A2 4.0l, the 3.8 in the spyder was well suited but tall geared (didn't bother me as in 2nd at 40-70 was amazing)Pivot wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 10:37 am I drove Cayman 4.0 NA 400hp and I absolutely loved it. I drove PDK and MT back to back at Silverstone and I have to admit that I enjoyed PDK more. For context, I currently drive Boxster 2.0T with MT so I thought I would pref MT, but PDK was so much better at least on the track.
I wonder how will 911 4.0 NA drive, given extra weight and size. Then again, with modern electronic witchcraft, I have no doubt that Porsche will tune it perfectly for us.

If Porsche gave it the 8k redline 414bhp of the GT4 I'm sure it would be just right on the money.. or am i just dreaming
