Porsche connect issues

Evening all

Very happy having collected my gen 3 GTS just over a week ago, but with one small niggle. Having seen online that it’s a good idea to get the connect set up at the dealer I did just that. Didn’t go smoothly, and a technician had to plug in and reprogram the system. It worked for the first few hours, and since then hasn’t sent anything back from the car to the servers. Vodaphone couldn’t connect to it either. Anyone else having issues?

Unrelated, no doubt, but external connectivity seems to be constantly changing and not for the better. I didn't renew most of the services but did fork out the £159 to keep Nav and other in car apps alive. I found it very useful to be able to manage the Nav+ destinations from the sofa in advance of a trip. It is still possible but 10x harder to get to on my phone and the List is no longer shown, which is a particular pain when deleting entries.

Hi,
i have the exact same thing. Car Connect service was activated by the OPC prior to collection, and i had the app ready and could see the car but once collected it stopped working. Spoke to Vodafone who like you couldnt see the car at all with their tools so they said it had to be a Porsche reset onsite.

Car was back at the dealer for something else so asked them to reset it - again, worked for about half a day and been broken for last 4 weeks. It doesnt look that useful but its more the principal - my last BMW had online services that gave you these basics for free, and more importantly they actually worked every time. This is my first Porsche and im deeply unimpressed with all of their online services for whats meant to be a premium brand - so much so that it will definitely be a consideration for my next choice of car.

What I do not understand is I never have issues with the Car Connect app but destinations set in the Connect arrive at the Macan very intermittently

I use Google maps almost exclusively (never used built in sat nav on the Jag) and this allows live traffic updates etc I just press the voice key and say "take me to" so no need to enter anything manually in the car or at home. This i think negates the problem of updating sat nav with connected services etc. Have also used Wayz in the same manner and this will give speed mobile speed trap info too!
I realise that this will not be available unless an Apple user but super easy if you are and without the need to even think about Porsche connectivity updates.

Car Connect has always been a Hit and Miss function but being SIM based it is very, very dependent upon mobile phone reception.

My advice would be to forget about the system but if you must have the tracking get a specialist security company.

I have basically ignored it and I also use Carplay with Waze, but that isnt really the point im making - its functionality that's advertised but literally doesn't work, or works so badly people have to find workarounds for it.

I don't think that's really acceptable for a product in this bracket but that appears to be overlooked by many 'because people don't buy Porsches for that'. Well, whatever I buy, I expect it to work and their online services largely don't.

My car has been in once to have the Vodafone module reset by the OPC. I was given a 911 4S for 2 days though, so it wasn't all bad

The wife had an email today, vodaphone have an over-the-air update that they will be carrying out at some point to rectify issues.
Not holding my breath, always had bad service from vodaphone.

Yes, I've had the same issue since I got my S in September. The app says its the PCC server not connecting to the car. After 2 'hard resets' by the OPC, all but lasted a few days then lost connection again. It's important to note that this 'loss of signal' also means if you have a tracker (which you have a subscribed to) does not work either. Quite worrying. When I spoke to Vodafone they confirmed this. I have had many irate calls to Porsche GB and Vodafone bouncing me from one to the other and saying it's not their problem. Glad to finally receive that email from Vodafone to say they're sending an software update. Fingers crossed.
