Don't treat your OPC technicians as total idiots. A transfer box that has been run with no oil will fail in a different way to the classic transfer box failure.

My transfer box failure was obvious at low speeds even in a straight line when taking off with a light throttle. At the moment what you've posted does not rule out Ackerman effect.

Also consider the following given what you have just posted on a public chatroom that is almost certainly looked at by OPC staff.

well looks like some of you are upset a little i didt say that porsche are idiots but with other garages in the past its hard to trust most of them i just want to be sure that im not going to be fobbed off and told its some other problem and not re-solveing issue back to topic ive done a few test what previous posts have said todo hence reverse up a his and oppiste lock and to be fair its skips then and not only that makes a clicking nosie witch have litterly just done i get everyone saying the arckermen effect but i just cant see it when its never done it before and its not even cold really not only that me old transit drives better then car i am after advise for test so can have some solid evediance to back up when i do go to porsche i persoally think its the early stages on it happening but to look at its from porsche point to prove that a part has failed they will replace but its a well known issuse and a new desinged transfer box surely that should be done under a recall whats your thoughts to that

You would definitely know if your transfer box is faulty. The box on my 2018 Macan S was replaced last week. The symptoms are very obvious; when you pull away there is a skipping/knocking feeling under the car - sort of under your feet / the seat you're sat in and you'll feel it up to around 20mph mainly. Mine also showed the symptoms when reversing on full lock....in fact it almost felt like it was grinding.

The Ackerman effect is different and happens because the steering lock on Porsche cars is much greater than mainstream cars. I have a 2013 Boxster and it's very evident on full lock, particularly in the winter when the tyre rubber is cold and I'm reversing.

It doesn't sound like your's is particularly bad at the moment if it's only when you pull away fast on full lock, and could well be Ackerman effect....so why not and see how it goes for a while?

My thoughts are this is an f'd up approach. You don't trust garages yet you are prepared to do something untrustworthy yourself?

jeddi - if you live somewhere near a good Porsche independent garage you could always call by one of tyhose for a quick opinion - might give you a bit more confidence to approach the OPCs without fear of having the wallet lightened of £180 and you being fobbed off.

My eyes and brain hurt after trying to read those posts.

Try and find a good local Porsche specialist, or just take it to your local OPC and see what they think.

What about the place you purchased the car from, have you spoke to them regarding the fault? You may have mentioned it, but as I said, my brain hurts.

right back home from work now am going to take it down motorway see what i can get it todo no local garages are in middle of linconshire and yes my spelling ist great but in time will get there rite piss of you all going to give the motor a run to space ta tar for now
