I'm looking at getting my car a spa day for it's second birthday and had a recommended guy take a look. He was quite complementary about the current state having seen worse on new Porsches apparently. Anyway he has suggested two potential options:
"Firstly the car will be subjected you a full decontamination wash, this will remove the majority of wax or polish that may be present on the vehicle, the car will then take on a full decontamination of tar, brake dust, tree sap and any other bonded contamination, it will then receive a single stage machine cleanse and targeted correction to the areas pointed out. Wheels will also be decontaminated.
The coating of choice will then be applied.
SiRamik Glasscoat Lustrous Graphene Coat is a 3-5 year bonded sheet coating with a chemical resistance of between 2 and 14ph, this is an ultra slick surface coating.
SiRamik Glasscoat Lustrous Plus Graphene Spray is an 8 to 12 month spray coating that is a reduced concentration of the aforementioned coating, it is still a bonded sheet graphene, however, this is a simple, user friendly coating and as such can be applied as and when you feel the need."
Option 1 comes in £225 more than 2. The second, apparently, is much easier to apply than "the old ceramic coatings" so in future it will be a DIY job.
Any comments to aid my deliberations are welcome, but no squabbling please

Sounds silly but it depends who's doing the job.
Also, does your paint require correcting?
You can get graphene sprays really cheap now, I mean, £25 a bottle. I used 303 aerospace graphene on mine when I first got it, it's holding up really well.

That doesn't sound silly at all, a clown with a polishing machine could do a lot of damage! I think I'm in safe hands, the guy has a background in painting Porsches, had his own detailing business (see Reflectology.co.uk not recently updated but I believe the 996 on there was his own) but due to some health issues gave up the premises and now just picks and chooses jobs he likes.
Yes, it needs a few, relatively light scratches seeing to, courtesy of the odd rampant Derbyshire hedge and the like. I'm inclined to go with the dearer option and then try to keep it in cotton wool.

Noooooo, well, I don't think so anyway. He used to be a sponsor on an Audi website some years ago and got great reviews! I also bought some products off him that he used to make, they worked really well. Wondered what had happened to him. Thought the name Reflectology rang a bell. Shame he's had bad health, was a really helpful chap when I got in touch with him. Glad to hear he's still doing detailing though.
Now going back to your first post. If you like cleaning your car then go for the cheaper option, it will still have great protection but will need to be topped up sooner that's all.

"like cleaning your car" might overstate it a bit, I like a clean car and that might extend to a chamois or modern equivalent with satisfaction from a job well done, however, that will never supersede a game of golf or visit to the pub! So I'm leaning towards the dearer option and an ongoing maintenance regime. Oh, and giving hedges more room!
