Why no PCM 6.0 for 2022 Macan?

Got an email from Porsche Germany confirming no PCM 6.0 for the new 2022 Macan. To me it is strange that they wouldn’t have included it in this facelift? I am about to order the new 2022 Model but it does leave a bit of sour taste knowing your “refresh” is already out of date.

I suggest raising the issue with your SA. If enough people raise it as an issue than Porsche may provide the ability to update your car once PCM 6.0 is launched in the Macan. Depending on how many people raise it as an issue it may be free or not ;)

Is 6.0 a software update, or are there physical components in the models it will be available on (911 / Cayenne / Panamera) that the 2022 Macan does not have?

If it's software, I don't understand why this would not be implemented.

Now that is really annoying as I saw the update on the 2022 Cayenne and wrongly assumed it would-be going into the Macan.

Never owned an apple device so was looking forward to integrating Android.

I'll be asking OPC about this as I bet they introduce it in 6mths or so...

Grrrrrrrr. :-(

The press release reads to me that changes may require slightly greater processing power so not purely a software update. Introducing it to the Macan may have been held up by the world chip shortage. I suspect it could become, for Macan, a model year 2023 or 2024 change.

For Porsche to persuade me to move on from my 2019 S and loss of my beloved "buttons", before it has done around 70 k mileage, I need more than just a power increase, something like two out of three of hud, matrix lights and Andriod auto

The wording below is taken from the Porsche Newsroom article.

The navigation system is now even more powerful
The new hardware and software architecture of PCM 6.0 allows even faster calculations by the navigation system – always taking into account real-time traffic information. The significantly reduced and more clearly designed map view is also a factor that contributes to the speed at which information is provided.

It certainly looks as if PCM 6.0 is both hardware and software driven.

That is my understanding too. Its both a hardware and software update. The MY22 Cayenne’s will get it, but you can’t retrofit it to previous models ( MY21 and older). Its just beyond believe that they go through all this trouble to update the car to last a further three years plus and than don’t update the technology! It will date the car fast. Already it looks like the lights, ACC systems are all old tech. The engines were probably a quick and easy fix. The body styling to bring it inline with the latest corporate look to look “fresh”. I was also thinking its maybe a chip issue, but than you can spec auto parking - which wasn’t available before not an option you put out there if you run short of chips.

They have to save something for 2023/24/25 etc. You should expect new additions to slip out over time, but by the time all the ones you want are available then a new model will be available.

Porsche could easily do this if they really wanted to, but they're holding back the treats for the EV Macan in the hope that it'll encourage more people to trade their old Macan in for the new one.
It helps generate dealership cash flow in the form of pre-owned Macan sales and new car sales.
In other words, we're being had.
