It’s weird isn’t it, a company whose spent their entire existence focussing on heavy manufacturing and marketing aren’t experts in an entirely different field?

Honestly, they've no excuse. Software has revolutionised the world since the advent of the computer. In 2022 a global company like VW has absolutely no excuse for not being able to deliver digital user experiences.

The car industry has been behind until a few key players kicked the entire lot up the arse. They should have all invested heavily the moment Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone and Apple sky rocketed to become the giant it is today.

Instead we've got car software that looks and acts like it's a cheap knockoff tablet from 2012 in brand new cars being built in 2022.

Fully disclosure: I work in software so perhaps I am biased.
Nail on the head here, no excuse whatsoever. Jump into any new BMW and see how their software runs, now on the 8 idrive evolution/ generation, it’s intuitive and more importantly it works blooming well. 2 x OTA updates a year as well.

Can I also add they the AC in the Macan is absolute garbage as well? Even on Max AC its poor.
Would question your a/c comment TK, just driven back from Birmingham in indicated 40 degrees and the wife asked me to turn it down cos she was getting chilly!
Had it set at 20 degrees and was pumping out some seriously cold air, one of the best I’ve ever experienced.
Having said that, I know some Macan a/c systems have had a sensor problem so may be worth checking this out?

Just doesn’t seem very powerful, it’s making all the noise but not impressive on the cooling. Jump in the M135i and that thing blast cold air out within seconds and freezes your nuts off. Weird. It does get cold but it’s in no rush that’s for sure.

Mine got like that a couple of months ago. I took it to a little local garage to be re-gassed, and it's icy cold now.

Agree on the software but have no problem with the a/c. Did 450miles yesterday with no problems with it set to Auto 21° Ambient 33°. Didn't even have to open the sunroof to aid the cooling when I got back in after my meeting. But spent the whole journey chuntering how intuitive the beemer system is compared to PCM5. Couldn't hit the touch screen accurately and the scroll wheel lives in a different universe. Hopefully the round trip to Seville next month will sort it out.

There article:-

Makes for an alarming read.

Perhaps the VW Software Division needs to employ EA Sports on a Sub-Contractor.

Ah that makes more sense. I should ask my experience with the AC is shorter journeys. So in notice more of a difference in how long it takes to cool it down from volcano to pizza oven. The beemer is quicker. No doubt on longer runs it would indeed eventually get it down to temp comfortably. Notoce the middle 2 vents don’t really blast as much as the beemer which is where it looses out I reckon.

that makes the GTS (or any gen 3) even more tempting and a 'bargain' as that value will hold for another 3/4 years.
