The issue is that over the last couple of weeks I have been convinced of a strange noise when driving away .... particularly in the mornings. It's a kind of rattle/vibration/metallic sound and one that I wasn't able to pinpoint.
However, yesterday I managed to pinpoint when this was happening because as I drove off when the DAB was having a senior moment and took a little time to kick in I definitely heard the noise. To cut a long story short(ish) I managed to identify that this only happened when turning the steering wheel more than a few degrees in either direction. So today after another crappy drive back down the M4, I decided to call into Dick Lovetts in Brizzle as I really didn't want to ignore something potentially amiss with the steering.
After speaking to a service rep he said that he would get a Technician to go check the noise with me and asked if it was repeatable. I said is was so we went to the car and he agreed, yes there was a noise when turning the wheel and offered to take the car into the workshop and have a look to see if he could find the problem. So off I went back inside the showroom and accepted the offer of a coffee as I expected nothing to happen for a while. Much to my surprise after a few e-mnails, a coffee and a couple of biscuits the service rep returned with my key and informed me it was all sorted.
It turned out to be a heat shield that had evidently moved and was being effected by the steering mechanism and causing the noise. I drove away happy.
So minus points to Porsche for having to take the Macan in for a second time but plus lots of points again for DL service
