:x Hi all,

Has anyone had or heard of the timing cover bolt issue recurring after a fix?
Slight leak noted during the major 6 year service so opc put leak detector spray on and I went back after 500 miles for check. They confirmed it was timing cover bolts and work done under warranty.
Just had car mot’d at a different opc who have noted an oil leak again at same place. Maybe the original repair wasn’t done correctly which I guess while annoying can happen but as I understood it the bolts are replaced with a redesigned part to prevent the issue occurring again. Car booked in for November to sort out. Fortunately we extended the warranty! I’ve just to keep a close eye on oil level which I do anyway.
Quite concerning if it is the same thing or shoddy original repair. Opc not named and shamed as I may yet take it to Porsche gb as the new opc say they may charge me for investigation work. If that’s the case I will question this as surely that ought to be covered by the warranty.

When I had the same issue done on my Macan S @ Leeds OPC I had a long conversation with the technician who does this job, I asked him how many of these had he done twice, he said he had not done one twice!
At this point in time Porsche were removing the entire engine to do this job, then Porsche changed the way it was done, my car was the first done @ Leeds with the engine in situ.
Let’s just hope they get yours right this time.

Cheers Toddie. Let’s hope so. I have more faith in this opc though so while I didn’t expect to be on this path hopefully it’ll get sorted. They want the car for 3 days so that’s the cost of my extended warranty recouped! :D
