An interesting dilemma and one I have just been through. After buying a new 2017 GTS (volcano with pebble interior) and suffering a leaking sun roof that proved difficult to repair I lost confidence in the vehicle despite it supposedly being fixed. I eventually sold it and vowed never to buy another Macan, or at least not one with a sunroof. However, after trying a couple of alternatives and not being entirely happy with them I decided to get back into a Macan but a used vehicle rather than new.

Looked at a few cars and decided I wanted a “colour” this time, rather than grey etc, and I wanted a non black interior so have ended up with a Gen 2 S in sapphire with a black/beige interior. I also wanted Gen 2 buttons as opposed to solid plastic of the Gen 3, along with 360 cam, heated wheel and vented seats, any other extras were a plus. Needless to say I ended up with another pano despite trying to avoid the option. However, I did get the OPC to show me the warranty car history to see if there was any evidence of warranty claims on the roof. There was no evidence of claims so, after a test drive, I decided to go ahead.

The car hasn’t got air suspension or PASM. The lack of PASM concerned me a little after having it on the GTS but after driving cars with and without back to back I decided it wouldn’t be such a big deal for the type of trips the car would cover.

Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase and would recommend not to get hung up on certain options, just go for the ones you have shortlisted and consider to be “must haves” or else you will be looking for ever……

Good choice Rigger, especially with the colour. You'll need to update your car list in your "signature" now.

P.S. the pano roofs in both my Macans have been water tight. I use it regularly in either tilt or fully open. I do lubricate the seals every couple of months.

Update:
went to view the Macan S at RSJ but did not drive it. I did however have a test ride in an older Macan GTS which certainly had some drama to it. Dilemma is, will the newer gen2 S be muted / boring? Appreciate a gen1 GTS bhp is similar to the newer gen2 S so wouldnt make much difference speed wise but perhaps handling would be better in the GTS. Wondering if i should i perhaps go for a gen1 GTS or turbo performance pack to get a bit of drama? or perhaps up the budget and try and get a gen2 GTS or Turbo so i get the newer infotainment and lightbar rear.
