Can someone confirm, I have been informed that the brake fluid change is after 2 years, and this usually fits in with the first service at 20K miles or two years (Most Macan's appear to not do more than 10K miles a year). However, I will have done 20K miles at the 18 month mark and will service my car in March. Can I wait until September for the brake fluid change as that's when the car will be 2 years old?

Yes it’s up to you. Brake fluid goes off hence why they like to change it every 2 years

Yes, brake fluid is “hygroscopic” in that it absorbs moisture from the air over time. Changing is a preventative biennial event. No requirement to change beforehand for all normal motoring activity. If you test it, in most circumstances it can actually last considerably longer before deteriorating.

OK thanks, is there a separate indicator on the dash for brake fluid like the oil change and service indicator or is it just for you to have it done every two years.

OPC wants more for the brake fluid change £280 than the service inspection £271 (without oil change as this was already done). Minded to get the official OPC service done at that price but go elsewhere for brake fluid change as i can get that done for a fraction of £280 at the later date.

They're taking you for a fool, my OPC charged £120 inc fluid and VAT to change the fluid at the last service 3 months ago.

Agree with Andrea’s comments. I was charged £132 inc vat in October last year, still “OTT” when Halfords, ATS or Kwikfit charge under £50. Get yourself a tester ( see link) and if you’re happy with it just decline. There is a section in your service book but there is no connection or device in the car.

P.S. if you do use a tester be careful not to drip any fluid onto any paintwork or you’ll be into a bigger cost to repaint.

£280 doesn’t sound right at all for just a brake fluid change. I would double-check with them, as I think they’ve made a mistake there.

Even at half that figure, you could get it done elsewhere for much less.

I suspect the 280 will include a 30min health check which they seem to tag on to every booking.
