I thought it was the owners that tended to leak more with age, does it afflict the cars too?
Panoramic sunroof leak.

Well there are a lot of ‘old codgers’ on this board … so you might well be right

Hi all those with leak issues, just wanted to tell my sad tale of woe ...
My 19 plate Macan (with pano roof) started leaking sometime during the spring lockdown 2020, I didn't notice until I went back to work in June 20, when I was confronted with the worst condensation problem I've ever encountered. I had a dig around and discovered wet floors running falong the entire passenger side of the car. It was worse in the rear but I assume that is because my drive is on a slight incline.
From June right through till December the car was in and out of the dealer, them refusing to accept there was an issue with the roof, trying to blame my 3rd party dash cam installation, telling me it was rear blocked drains which they 'fixed', e.t.c. Once they accepted it was the roof, they tried to fix it with some weird silicone gunk in the roof mechanism, it didn't work, and once again water poured in through the passenger dashboard into the footwell (exactly as seen in the photos earlier in this thread). queue videos and pictures back to the dealer and an email to Porsche head office.
Finally in December they accepted there must be a problem and they took the car in to investigate, the mechanic was great, he stripped the interior and really tried to get to the root of the problem, my husband would periodically call in to see what they had found and eventually one morning they discovered where it was leaking from. They adjusted the roof mechanism and voila, the leaking into the footwell stopped happening! All fixed under warranty, thank goodness!
So we're four years on from there ... no more water entering the car footwell, but the wind deflector does get wet when it has rained. I'm not sure if the original problem will reoccur, but as I'm thinking of getting a new Macan, I can tell you that I definitely won't be having a pano roof!
Keep going back to Porsche, they do know about this issue they just seem really reluctant to fix it!

I agree with you, Sal. If we were ordering a new Macan it would definitely be without the sunroof. We also had a bad experience back in 2019 with a leak.
I was searching for a used Macan without one but regretfully they are like hen's teeth to then also match our other spec items.
We have therefore purchased a 3.5 year old Cayenne S Coupe. Those have a fixed panoramic roof that does not open. So it still lights up the interior but without the leak danger / wet wind deflector (I kept using a hairdryer on the Turbo to dry the deflector after washing the car ). The size of the Cayenne is a bit of a shock, but hopefully we will get used to it, they are pure luxury.
Exciting times for you to be ordering a new machine!

There's no Cayenne in your stable, does that mean it lives in the paddock?Semerka wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 7:41 pm I agree with you, Sal. If we were ordering a new Macan it would definitely be without the sunroof. We also had a bad experience back in 2019 with a leak.

Funnily enough the now gone 992 Carrera T came from Stockport's used stock. I see that you ordered your current Macan S from Stockport.

Yes, it is a very modern dealership, lots of parking and space and dedicated handover bays / rooms.
For us it was a 4 hour drive from down south to collect the used 992 Carrera T last July.

I had my GTS in for its 4yr service today. Prior to taking it in, I checked that the pano roof drains were clear and ensured so by pouring water along the channels to see it coming out of the 4x drain pipes under the car. I informed the dealer on checking it in.
However, on collection I was charged £69.72 for "water drain cleared". They stated this was now a mandatory part of the service procedure for cars with pano roofs!
Unlike 2yrs ago, they would not back down and remove the charge.
Also on getting home, I found a litre of engine oil and a bottle of summer screen wash had been left in the car. On checking the invoice, sure enough they'd charge me for the two bottles.
The only consultation was that their 4yr service price was lower than the next nearest OPC.
