Forged or cast

Hello,

Does anyone know if the Gen3 21” RS Spyder wheels are forged or cast?
I’m speccing up my car and really like the look of those, but am a bit unsure if they are cast wheels (thus more prone to cracks as the roads in my area are littered with potholes )

I wouldn't worry too much cause the sidewall on the tyres are pretty big.

I’m pretty sure they’re cast wheels on most Porsches, with the possible exception of top of the range GT cars and some 911 Turbo models etc. For forged wheels, you’d generally need to go after-market.

For normal road use, Porsche OEM wheels will be fine.

Some folks opt for smaller wheels to get a deeper tyre profile.

Think the 21" 10 spoke macan turbo alloys are forged?
I thought the larger dia wheels were forged for strength due to the smaller tyre wall....could be wrong.

Update....googled this and the US forums reckon all 21" oem alloys are forged for macan???

I thought all the 21” alloys were forged as well (at least in Gen 1 and 2), but it seems only some of them are in Gen 3.
I’m pretty sure the 21” GT design wheels are forged magnesium, but they’ve made it exclusive to the GTS sadly.

If any Porsche wheel is forged, I’d have thought they’d boast about the fact in the configurator/brochure etc.

I very much doubt they are magnesium - mag wheels are a nightmare

Where wheels are forged, the configurator says so (e.g. GT4 RS and GT3) so if the Porsche configurator doesn’t say forged, I very much doubt that they are.

Majority of Porsche wheels are cast aluminium alloy. Many of the complex designs would be very difficult to forge.
