They have no choice, oil is not an infinite resource.
Well, if the TV is your only source of information, then you're only listening to what they want you to see and hear. Maybe the internet is the only way to get the other side of the story out there.
Some car manufacturers are starting to speak out, but what do they know? They don't want to be building electric cars, they are being forced to.
But, this kind of subject will always divide opinion. You have yours and I have mine. Only the future will prove what's right or wrong.
Indeed. I think manufacturers prefer to build EV’s as there are many less moving parts and a lesser reliance in time, on complex supply chains etc.

Although you don’t need to dig up fossil fuels bi-fuel still needs to be burned and gives off carbon emissions. Around 50% of typical petrol but emissions non the less so this won’t fit the carbon neutral ethos in the long term.

The theory seems to be the plants they make the fuel from have withdrawn whilst growing the amount of carbon emitted during their combustion. The problem with oil gas and coal they did that several millennia before.
I suspect the issue with e fuels will ultimately be cost.

The major difference long term between the two is how easy it is to reap the benefit of improvements in the actual energy conversion process. Bio-fuel conversion improvements would be exactly the same as we have now, i.e. you need to buy a new car to get better efficiency. EV takes from the grid so we can swap out the tech that generates the electricity with much greater ease and it immediately impacts all EV vehicles regardless of age. You still have the battery tech efficiency to worry about but its a lot easier to swap out one battery tech for another on an old car than to swap out an engine.

The following article from Autocar deals mainly with CO2 capture, and how plants capable of capturing millions of tonnes of it are being built (including here in the UK), but there's a brief mention at the end about how it can be combined with hydrogen to make synthetic fuel.
