Coincidentally I just read that too, Steve.

Some forum contributors may concur with the overall conclusions. ;)

I concur for one. There’s a lot of drivel going around about how the T is lighter and more nimble - absolute BS, the T weighs a little more than the base and even that is only 65kg lighter than the V6 S for example. That is unnoticeable on a 2,000kg car but the extra 115bhp in an S is VERY noticeable!

I’m sorry T fans, not having a go, these are just facts. If you have bought a T cos you couldn’t wait for an S you have made a mistake.
If you have bought one because you wanted the extra 3mpg economy or you like the pinstripe cloth seats and you don’t want any more performance than a hatchback, then right decision 👍

I’m going to go test a S and a 4 pot side by side. I may be changing my order. Then I may not. But until I’ve tested both I’ll now always wonder “hmm what if “

Back to the confuserator to get two cars drawn up with similar costs. May mean leaving painted skirts out 😊

Good idea. I'd suggest you may be very disappointed by the 2 litre version.

With the UK pricing, buying a S does seem to make more sense but here in AU, pricing is a tad different. On the road costs here are:

Base - $104,213
T - $107,860
S - $128,840
GTS - $157,414

Included to show differences in grades. Would that alter your opinions ? Actually S seems good value here. And yes, I have driven a S but you really can’t speed here despite our wide open spaces…

We do get various UK options included already so pricing not directly comparable to yours. (75 litre tank, surround cameras, side airbags, comfort access, TSR, dimming mirrors, PDLS, etc).

On paper the base and T are reasonably quick in a 0-60 time, not cutting edge more akin to a performance motor from about 2005.

If all you want is the street cred of driving the badge around town dropping the kids off, talking it to the supermarket and noodling around town then there is nothing wrong with these variants.

Get them out on the open road and try to make progress and you will wish you paid more for the S.

Being out accelerated from the traffic lights by guy in a BMW 118D whilst I was in a 2.0 Macan will remain etched in a tortured area of my memory.

Crockers, this is my version of an S to match your T. Lane keeping assist is a nonsense and you would turn off at first opportunity and the keyless access is a really clunky solution with the Macan. My test car had it and I thought it was aweful actually.
Have omitted air suspension as this is not strictly necessary when you have PASM and 20” wheels (standard S wheels look great)

Anyway, you probably get the picture, you can get a nicely specced S for your T money but may have to wait a few month longer…

Thanks Jon

I’ve been playing with the configurator all afternoon. I’m only £1k out. So am going to go drive one.
