I must get down to Specsavers. Sorry, but I just can't see how a mobile Portakabin aka the 'new' Defender is good looking. My neighbour, who is a Land Rover loyalist, had one whilst his Discovery was in the shop (again) and he hated it. Not that my view counts for much. If you like it, great. I hated the original one too, a bag of bolts coveted by trendy types.
Dolomite Silver 'S' with red leather 14 way seats, Pano roof, Bose, Air suspension with pasm, Chrono pack, PDLS, Surround view, 911 turbo wheels, heated screen, spare wheel, ioniser,75 lt tank, black tail pipes, black roof rails.

No. But from certain angles my GTS does look like the illegitimate child of a 911 and a Ford Kuga (albeit on steroids) 😊

Tracky - Yes, pretty much everything on it as ordered. In the interim it changed from MY22 to 23 so blue front callipers changed to black, 10.4” touchscreen went to 11.4” and tracker got an upgrade. LR increased the list price but honoured my original price. The only changes I wasn’t aware of until collection was the overhead sunglasses holder has gone and the rear tailgate no longer has soft close, neither of which I mind too much although the soft close was nice. Given the supply chain issues I was very surprised there wasn’t anything else AWOL.

Firstsealord - Yes, your guesstimate is only slightly high!

Thanks Simon, I love the looks too!
There's an article in this week's Autocar bemoaning Defender reliability. How are you getting on with yours Nick?

Loving it Peter! It’s an amazing vehicle, incredible capability, and on-road driving so smooth and quiet that you wouldn’t believe its size and shape. And the soundtrack from the V8 is subdued but highly seductive!! Reliability so far is fine. I had to fix two assembly issues which weren’t worth going back to the dealership - a slight rattle from the cover of the emergency triangle box in the tailgate, fixed with some anti rattle tape (also works in Porsches!) and one wiper wash nozzle not working due to an assembly error which was quickly corrected by rerouting the feed pipe.

Being the V8 it has all the tech you could want, including some you might not, like the driver interference systems the EU has burdened us with, but everything as standard that Porsche list as options. That said, the price reflected it!

Landrover reliability is legendary, ie bad! Reading the LR forums you quickly realise that owners are resigned to it and even joke about it! But like any mass manufacturer, there are duds which get lots of publicity while satisfied owners remain, well, satisfied.

I like the fact it has actual buttons and knobs to operate essential controls while the touchscreen delivers all the driver information you need without too much interaction on the move. I’m still getting used to the features of such a complex car, but enjoying the process. I’ll keep you posted on the longer term reliability!

If I was in the market for an Uber big luxury SUV, I would choose one of these ahead of anything including any Range Rover.
Magnificent car 👍
