New Macan T announced

I was passing an OPC yesterday, saw a Gen 3 Macan GTS sitting there looking rather resplendent in Python green so went in to have a look. Many spec options ticked taking it to a whopping £87K! It was a stunning car but not sure python is for me.
Anyway, the sales lady starts talking about the Macan T which I found odd when a customer is looking at a GTS! She went on to mention that it handles really well due to the light weight configuration but didn't know why it was lighter or how much lighter it was "I'd need to check". I did the checking myself, it's actually 20kg heavier. The Macan T is a parts bin special designed to squeeze out a slightly bigger margin for the Porsche and secure well spec'd used stock in the years to come. Avoid.

How on earth did it end up heavier?

I suspect the additional weight is simply due to the std options on the Macan T. But the spin presented by the sales lady was misleading and suggests they are as confused by the T badging as I am.

Does anyone by a base model without options ? Suspect most 2.0 cars are specced with options that are pretty similar in weight to the T .

Your right Mark, the standard T weight v Base isn’t a true comparison, the T has additions including PASM, SC, 20” wheels. Can soon add 20kg.

She's not paid to know the actual weights, just to utter the Porsche marketing garb.

Quite clearly a spec'd up base (ie T) will weigh more than the base, and have less ;weight saving ' over the S model

Next Porsche will claim they saved weight by not fitting the 14 or 18 way seats on the T

The argument for the base is the less weight over the front wheels and hence the better front rear weight distribution. All the T does is further improve the handling by lower profile tyres and lower stiffer suspension.

The sales lady has not grasped the detail and hence can confuse
