This in the “i”, so take with a pinch of salt, but if correct it shows why BEV’s are going to take a while before they replace ICE in this country ( although I still believe they will )

"Tesla car park assistance then arrived on site to support the broken down vehicle."
Apparently it went into parking mode.
Does that lock the wheels?

Yeah it would apply the brakes. It was a very stupid situation.Nelladrahcir wrote: ↑Fri Nov 05, 2021 2:52 pm "Tesla car park assistance then arrived on site to support the broken down vehicle."

I’m not averse to electric cars but if people choose to use all the gadgetry that’s on offer? They do come with limitations. Why on earth would you want to rely on your phone to start your car

I can't actually find the article, might have been in Forbes but it said that 20% of EV purchasers in the US have returned to ICE vehicles for various reasons. I wonder what that figure is in the UK/Europe.
Also that the Norwegians are a bit stuffed due to so many people buying subsidised EVs over there that tax revenue has plummeted and they are in a bit of a pickle!!!!

Will be interesting to see what happens to the share price on opening on Monday! An opportunity?MikeM wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 10:16 am I’m not averse to electric cars but if people choose to use all the gadgetry that’s on offer? They do come with limitations. Firstly, older Teslas (Model S/X) use a normal key fob. But you can also open and start them with your phone as a backup via the internet. Quite handy if you lose your key fob and it can be done remotely too.
Newer Teslas (Model 3/Y) use your phone as the primary key, which connects via BT and does not require network access. They just unlock and lock automatically when you have your phone with you. No need to use any form of key fob. Again very handy. Now as a back-up in case your phone glitches or goes flat you also have a credit card key which you just tap on the B-pillar to unlock and lock. Alternatively you can also use a normal key fob if new tech is all a bit much for you.
Now back to that news story. Like most Tesla owners, we didn't even notice this outage because 1) We use the standard key fob with our Model X and 2) the outage didn't affect phone access with our Model 3 as it connects via BT and doesn't require a network connection. Plus I always carry the emergency credit card key in my wallet, which I've never yet had to use.
I can only imagine that those affected were Model S/X owners using their phones instead of the key fob, which is not recommended because it relies on network access. So any network outage would be a problem - as they inevitably discovered. So it would appear there are around 500 stupid Tesla owners around the world!
I think you missed the boat already. I sold off all my Tesla shares last week when they peaked and put some of the profit into Rivian. I also have some Lucid shares which have doubled in the last month. Tesla shares may still have some potential for growth, but I think it's going to be a slow boat going from a trillion dollars. So I sold out to look for other potential faster growing opportunities. Tesla was a great ride up though! If they drop back below $1000 I might get back in, but not in a big way. But I'm all in on EV related stocks at the moment. I don't know if you have noticed, but it's quite the growing market.
