Hi all

First time poster so apologies in advance for any dim questions..

Unfortunately I have damaged one of the alloys on my Macan S. An act of idiocy as I did not see a curb as part of newly installed bike lane. Pictures below. Two questions please: given the damage would I best to get a new alloy (21 inch black gloss) instead of trying to get it repaired? And should I be concerned by the health of the tyre. I’ve been monitoring tyre pressure and all seems ok.

Thanks for your help.

Hi there - welcome! And bad luck on the kerbing.

Firstly - that tyre should not be relied upon. There could be damage to the internal side wall and possibly a blow out so it needs changing soonest.

The damage to the rim may be repairable but if it is diamond cut on the rim edge face ( difficult to tell) a repairer can only remove a small amount so it really needs a reputable repairer to quote.

Best of luck - we feel your pain!

I would certainly take it to a specialist alloy wheel repairer and see if they will quote.

A repair would be a tiny fraction of the cost of a new wheel!

Yes, that tyre has had it, 1/2 inch deep cut in sidewall?

The wheel should be repairable by a good wheel repair shop.

Tyre is a write off. Change asap before it gives up.
Wheel looks repairable.

Thanks all for the really rapid and kind responses.

I felt pretty bad as I only had the car for a few weeks. I feel better that the alloy looks repairable. The wheel has about a 5mm tear in it so it might be ok but better get it checked out. Does anyone know of any reputable alloy repairers in South or West London please?

The tear wasn't obvious from the photo. For repairer recommendations, phone some nearby Porsche OPCs and specialists and ask them who they'd recommend. I had some wheel damage recently and that's what I did, and was given several recommendations to Wheelworx in Colchester, who did a stunning job.

As already stated, the tyre is shot and should be replaced asap. The wheel damage is relatively minor they’ll just clean, rebuild, skim, lacquer and bake. Have no personal experience of London based specialists but there are a considerable number to choose from. Including some mobile services.
