Rear pads and discs supplied & fitted by Porsche Leeds recently for £632 inc VAT on my SD.

Fronts OK for time being but would be up to approx £800 for similar replacements.

Local family owned garage just charged me £289 for front and back pads. The mechanic looks after another Macan . He said that many of the parts are common across VAG

£172 for front discs
£192 for front pads
£55.42 for shim
£51.96 for senors
£16 for bolts

£201.98 for rear discs
£177 for rear pads
£55.42 for shim
£51.96 for senors
£6 for bolts
Why is a shim required if it’s new discs and pads? Should only need a shim if it’s old disks getting new pads, and even then it’s questionable if it’s needed

And new bolts needed? Plenty of cars are on the road for 10 or 20 years without getting new bolts.

Parts will definitely be common in VAG. Would be interesting to find the same part priced cheaper for a non Porsche!

I remember needing discs (yes discs) for my 1966 Renault 10 in the mid 80's. I went to a scrap dealer and they were exactly the same ones that were still being fitted to Renault 5's that year!!!!

Showing my age now!!!!

Like I said the bolts are single use as they stretch when you torque them and shouldn't be used again.

So new bolts needed every time you get new tyres or a puncture repaired or even re torque your bolts to make sure they are tight as you are meant to do 100 miles or less after they were torqued. Sounds major overkill and Porsche profiteering.

Bolts are for the callipers and are stretch bolts that deform when tightened to the correct toque. These should only be used once. Only need replacing when the callipers are removed. Shims are anti-squeal shims that routinely get replaced when pads are changed.
