Took the car in for PPF applying to the bonnet yesterday and believed there were no stone chips. Sod’s Law they found 2 that were significant enough for me to hold off getting the PPF done. Has anyone used a smart repair company around Yorkshire that they would recommend. I wish I had the confidence to get the wet and dry out, but I don’t :D

had a smart repair done on our lexus a few years ago, after a short period turned out to be rubbish, find a paint shop and have the whole bonnet done, you wont reget it.

Python is a flat colour and is actually a much easier paint to repair compared to a metallic. If you cannot tackle it yourself find a recommended Smart Repair/Chips Away guy and let them sort it. Painting the whole bonnet is way over the top, if spotted at point of resale some may consider it had more damage than a small stone chip. Plus, it could possibly happen again before the PPF your planning to have is applied 😳

First I would clay the bonnet, given the depth of the chips there may be other indentations on the bonnet that will require action.

Claying will get you up close personal with the bonnet and far more noticable, be one with your car.

There may be other chips caused by the stones bouncing over the car.

Cheers guys. Bonnet was only refinished in Feb and I’ve been waiting for it to harden and gas off.

Bit gutted, but I’ve dropped it back at OPC Silverstone today for a couple of warranty jobs so asked them to look at it as they have onsite bodyshop.

Was there already an issue with the bonnet then?

Who refinished it?

Was it a proper job? Guessing you think not or you'd be asking them to touch the chips in.

The OPC did it but it’s not exactly local hence asking. As it happens it’s back down there now for some warranty work so they are looking at it.
