Yesterday, having left the car for a little over two hours i started it up and got what Windows calls "the blue screen of death". A blank blue screen, totally unresponsive. The only thing that worked was the audible alarms for the parking sensors. Fortunately, the only planned manouevre was a repositioning of the car in the hotel car park. This morning, everything started up as normal.

With windows, you can force a restart with "Cntrl-Alt-Delete". Does anyone know if there is a similar fix for the PCM?

Press and hold the on/off/volume button on the PCM for about 20 seconds.
I have to do this every few months when it gets itself in a bit of a pickle
