I do wonder is this one of those features OPC's are going to fit after production at a later visit when the parts become available

see my previous post ( sorry I edited it before you posted ). The spec on the order doesn’t mention the sim or SD slots. But it DOES say sim card in point 2.

although other bits are wrong, thinking about it, because it says 2 x USB-C in the front and 2 x USB in the back, and the back ones are USB-C.

and this from the Porsche connect web site. Begs the question, if there is nowhere for the sim card does this mean in-car wifi is no longer available ?

On the Gen 2, in-car wifi can be provided by the "Vodafone embedded sim (if extra sub paid), a connected phone or an owner provided sim. The lack of a sim slot in a Gen 3 car should just remove the last option?

so an “embedded” SIM rather than one you fit? Possibly, I think that’s how the emergency contact thing on my mini works

There is a Vodafone service available once your car arrive for £17pcm for 7GB of data so that’s your option if you want it.

can you play media files through the USB-C? I guess I can just play them from my phone using apple car play.

I play media files via a USB stick on Gen 2 so see no reason why media files on a USB C stick in one of the connectivity USB C slots would not be a "music option as well as steaming via embedded sim (after payment of data sub) or a phone connected or accessing music files on a connected phone.
