My Macan S in for 2
year service. Mileage 5724 due to lockdown etc.

Had oil service 6 months ago only done 1000 miles since.so no oil change required

Inspection noted 2 advisories . Suprise surprise !!!,

1. Wheel alignment required .£150. Which could be knocked out soon as I drive away!!!!! So I have been informed.

2. Front discs and pads rusting and scoring causing vibration when breaking at low speeds due to lack of use £978. Discounted to £780.

3. Service costs £653 less oil change now £445. Saving £208 which is less than a oil service, just the way the computer says when removing oil change from 2 year service

It’s not the monetary value. If my car needs work done fair enough but at 2 years. God help at 4 years. IF I KEEP IT THAT LONG.

All opinions welcome.

Sorry to hear this but the issue is that it is just not driven enough. On wheel alignment, I assume there is some specific sign of this, e.g. visibly out of alignment or very uneven wear on tyres. I've not heard of an OPC just putting 'wheel alignment' for the sake of it.

Discs and pads are lack of use, they rust and if the car isn't used regularly to skim off the rust it does a lot more damage.

Why did you car have an oil service 6 months ago?

Porsche prices sadly. They do not compare at all favourably with a) Audi Q5 costs, b) Indy costs or c) parts and labour estimates

I paid £75 for a specialist to do wheel alignment on my Boxster

Design911 has full brake kits for your car for £400. £150 labour at an Indy?

My local OPC wanted £2800 to do the brakes so my Boxsters would pass the MOT last year. Having failed the MOT at the OPC, Kwik Fit passed without any remedial work when they fitted a new tyre (OPC couldn't supply) and again this year

If they are not changing the oil what on earth are you getting for your £445?

I'd think long and hard about getting an indy to fit genuine parts, alignment done elsewhere and a Porsche stamp to keep the warranty going.

I don't understand how anyone can own a Porsche for two years and only do 5k miles! Mine isn't two until September but has done 15k, I just can't "pop to the paper shop" now, just HAVE to go the scenic route and during lockdown 1 with deserted roads that was essential twice as often, sadly. Of course this use has resulted in a new set of tyres and an oil change in February but the service is still a while off.

I can’t believe it needs new pads and discs in any circumstances due to lack of use. Assuming the car is kept outside I still find this hard to believe. Some new cars sit around for 12 months at least before they are registered in ports and fields and have never heard of this as an issue. I’d head to a good indie for a view on this before parting with your hard earned.

I’ve also done about 1000 miles in the last 12 months and usually do about 12k per annum. I therefore sold my 340 and I’m waiting for a gts to arrive.

It is a shame that a lot of the OPC service prices appear to be such a rip off.
