A lot of the posts on here imply that ICE vehicles are basically evil and should be banned immediately.

Does this include emergency vehicles like ambulances and fire engines??

There's no reason why ambulances couldn't be pure electric; they tend to cover fairly low mileages, perhaps 100 miles or less per shift, and they don't need to carry heavy loads. Fire engines on the other hand are usually very heavy and need reasonable performance, so pure electric might be a bit more difficult to achieve.

Heavier vehicles may well be electric in some cases but certainly won’t be using batteries as the power source.

I agree with the ambulance and also local area Police cars, that said do they have rapid chargers between shifts? but Im sure that can be worked out.
Fire appliances and heavier rescue type equipment and perhaps traffic Police cars may need to be something diffrent, so many haulage/heavy trucks going onto CNG or Hydrogen due to that.
Also remember those fire appliances have diesel or some have a few petrol generators/pumps. ICE engines onboard for other critical tasks and jobs not just propulsion, so how long would a battery operated heavy duty pump work for or generator providing electricity for emergency floodlighting masts?

I suppose hydrogen power could be used for fire appliances.

I think we'll see quite a few light commercial EVs over the next decade e.g. last leg delivery and buses. Ambulances should fit into that category pretty well. I've been following the progress of companies like Arrival over the last couple of years. Amazon are looking set to start delivering via EVs pretty soon. Probably won't work for larger long haul commercial vehicles, but I don't follow that market.

It was cheap milk via supermarkets that killed them off. What goes around comes around, As Arnie said “I’ll be back” 🤔 or was it “Ernie” 😉

EV’s are a life saver.

Most of our Amazon deliveries are now by EV vans.
