Sorry to hear about your family's ordeal Steve.

My mother had a key safe by the back door of her house for the last couple of years of her life. First thing we did when she died was remove the key.

No matter what you do the scum will find a way. All our doors and windows are deadlocked but unless we put up bars on the windows we will never be impregnable. The CCTV shows the whole operation from onto the property to driving away was 3 minutes. The burglar alarm didn't faze them. If we had put barbed wire on the side accesses they could have gone next door and jumped over the fence. The car was recovered 10 miles away after they had ripped out the rear trim and electronics in an attempt find the tracker. End result is insurance paid the £4k bill and I am paying a loaded premium for 5 years.

Yes if they want the car they will find a way to get it. But the OP raised the thread to warn about key safe boxes.
