The footnote states that this is a generic pic, so I take it, I don’t need to contact OPC about wrong wheels.

I’d be keen to see some photos of this in the flesh when it arrives! Really struggled to find any good shots when I configured mine.

I’m awaiting on a M/T crayon gts4.0. I went for a very similar option list to you. I did opt for the carbon interior package which I think looks great if you’re not bothered about going for the full gts package.

I called the Sales Manager at the OPC and cancelled the order for Caveman GTS 4.0.

He promised me to see what can be done to get me a 911 Carrera S build allocation sooner than the wurst-case scenario 4Q2023 (shown on Porsche GB indicative supply chart). I believe some trading horses with other dealers is involved.

The decision was made after the consultation with the “ministry of home affairs” (aka. my lovely wife). I do intend to regularly drive it into Eurp to visit fantastic locations and Caveman 4.0 is just too small and too intense for my wife to tolerate the travel with me.

Really

We took our 981 to Monaco and the Italian lakes several times

Not got abroad with the 911 yet but done Wales and Scotland from the south coast and I wouldn’t say it was anymore relaxing!

We did a few trips down into Europe in the 987 Boxster which were absolutely fine, 2 boots is always a bonus on those sort of trips in case you stop as people can’t see what’s in the back.
The 911 was slightly more practical but only for being a coupe as we got the roof rack for bikes, Xmas tree etc.
I’m sure the Spyder (if I ever get an allocation) will be less practical but it will still suffice for euro trips (even if I’m swayed into the full bucket seats)
2022 GTS order cancelled
2023 718 Spyder order cancelled
Gone rogue and bought an Aston Martin V12 Vantage S

Yes, I am sure it can be done, and our 718 Boxster dimensions are great for me (6ft / 80kg). I also like the mid-engine architecture and additional rear boot. However, 911 does have a more spacious cabin, with rear seats for small travel bags or even to take our dogs for short domestic trips.

On a longer route, my wife likes to lean back, or sit in some contortionist positions, close her eyes and relax, while I prefer more engaged drive.

Finally, I always wanted 911, so why bother with half measures?

^^^ The last sentence is key here! You’ll love the 911 for touring and even daily use. Hope you get an earlier allocation.

Fair enough- see the point on reclining the seat

Not sure the cayman will be half a 911 though but agree everyone needs to own a 911 at some point in life

Good luck!

Did read on the Spyder review that road noise can be quite wearing on long trips so take the ear muffs.
