I have whinged ( no surprise there ) about the terrible sales experience we encountered at Wilmslow, Receptionist eating her butty, SE very slow to attend to us, his manner was more “these are not going to buy, I’m wasting my time” so very off hand. He was right though, we did not buy and if this rubbish dealership was the only OPC in the Region I’d be driving a Beamer.
Cheshire Oaks were a bit off hand as well with being kept waiting while the SE finished an eMail, glad we bought elsewhere.
So go ahead name and shame.

just making sure that I don't stray on the wrong side of things - happy(?) to not say too much at the moment. The sales experience was great - as it should be, they want an awful lot of money from you!
I'll keep you posted as to what happens with the post sales issues as and when resolved.

It’s ridiculous when a salesman takes that attitude. Who does he think he is? He just works in a shop.Col Lamb wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 4:37 pm I have whinged ( no surprise there ) about the terrible sales experience we encountered at Wilmslow, Receptionist eating her butty, SE very slow to attend to us, his manner was more “these are not going to buy, I’m wasting my time” so very off hand. I’ve generally found that if you go to a store that is truly high end, they give their full attention to every customer and they know very well that the walk-in customer wearing dirty trainers and a holed t-shirt is just as likely to be wealthy as anyone else, if not more.
Not a Porsche experience but I can't help sharing this story.
We had decided to buy a Renault Clio for my wife. Whilst researching the car and price etc. I used Carwow to see what offers were out there, but our local dealer was not a Carwow participant.
Not a massive issue, as I thought most dealers would likely compete with each other.
So we went to our local dealer, told them what we are interested in, and the Sales Exec shows us the car etc.
During our conversation I said that I had seen some quotes via Carwow.
Well you'd think I just called him a paedo, because his attitude changed immediately, in fact he walked off to the sales office, I thought he was going to get the brochure we asked for, but no, he didn't reappear and we were left standing there looking at each other.
Clearly he couldn't or wouldn't compete with other dealers, but rather than telling us that, and exploring what he might be able to do, he just abandoned us!

The reticence of most of our fellow forum posters to name names has always irked me. Survival of the fittest can't operate in the market if that info is withheld. I've always been open about who I'm praising or whinging about and beg you to be so too!

We had the opposite experience when buying our Clio last year. I agreed to buy it following the launch of the new model on August. No discount as a new model and needing a factory order.Bazza06 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 6:32 pm Not a Porsche experience but I can't help sharing this story.

Late Sept and Carwow were able to offer deals, but not via our local dealer. Spoke with the Sakes Manager and he agreed to a revised lower price within a couple of hundred £ of the lowest Carwow offer.
Late Oct and still no new car delivery date. So suggested we sell our current car (it was coming up to 5yrs old). He agreed to loan us a new demonstrator until our new one was delivered. So that saved us a service and MOT. We sold our Leon for the top price offer, to Cazoo.
We had that demonstrator for 6 weeks - free use, apart from the petrol, and did 750 miles in it. So saved 2 x months road tax. Overall it more than made up for the difference in tge new car price.
Really well done Platinum Renault, Trowbridge.
Bazza - hope you still bought a Clio? Ours has been superb. The 1.6 cc auto hybrid has returned 60.1 mpg over the first 9 x months. Great nimble handling, nippy and comfortable. Totally reliable, no squeaks / rattles and everything just works. Very comprehensively equipped too, as standard, with the Esprit Apine E-Tech model.

Yes, we went ahead and placed an order with another dealer. Would have preferred to keep it local, but not after that experience.SAC1 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 8:01 pmWe had the opposite experience when buying our Clio last year. The Clio should arrive next week, same version as yours, Esprit Alpine.
Glad to hear you are pleased with yours.
I wanted to go for the auto version, but my wife has never driven auto and wanted to remain manual, so we agreed to differ, and she won the argument!!
It works out cheaper, and considering it won't do more than 2-3K per year, it was probably a wise decision.

The manual is good. We prefer the auto with its extra power and instant speed of the bigger engined full Hybrid.Bazza06 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 10:16 pmYes, we went ahead and placed an order with another dealer.
