Your OPC is very, and quite possibly legally, wrong. As long as the licence is valid, and there have been no details change on it since pre-2000, and it has not been replaced with the photo id version, then it is perfectly and legally valid for insurance purposes
Well that did not happen to me. I have an “old” version driving licence and had no issues with that for my two hour test drive. I would be somewhat annoyed if they behaved that way, especially if a loyal customer!

Porsche didn't ask for this before, I think they've had a couple of 'chancers' shall we say, not being who they say they are.

Here's the link for DL exchange...make sure you enter your name as it appears on your paper license, otherwise you'll be going around in circles.

The loan car softened the blow though, my first drive in an EV, and what an EV, a 73 plate Taycan GTS Sport Tourismo.
Neck snapping, laugh out loud hyperspace acceleration off the mark. 0-62 in 3.7 (it felt quicker) and a serene, effortless drive. 94% battery charge showed 204 miles range, which should be better.
If the Macan EV is this good I might be tempted.
....Might.

I had paper only until we moved house 4 years ago, it was dropping to bits.
My OPC has asked for license, hasn’t insisted on photo one but I also need to provide my N.I. Number.

Always been able to swap out of a paper licence into photo card - at a cost. If that is what you want. Personally I held onto my Green paper (as opposed to pink paper) one until required to change.

Much easier when renting a car, especially in the US to have a photo licence ;)

That's so they can access your DVLA driving record and see how many points, current or recent, you have.
