Insurance shock

Had what I thought was a VG policy with Lloyds Bank last year for my GTS at just under £500. Renewal came in at a tad over £700. Did the usual Compare the Meerkat stuff and ended up with Hastings Direct (web only) for £434, so bit their hand off. Savings made will of course go towards next years service cost!

Speaking as the OP, none of this explains why Admiral thought that the insurance needed to double, year on year, on my wife's 2013 Fiat 500, which she's had from new, must be worth all of £4k on a good day, is resolutely old tech (you start it by sticking a key in the ignition) and kept off-road on a gated driveway.

This is central London - if someone wants to nick a Fiat 500, there are plenty of them parked outside on the street - they are almost as common around here as Range Rovers!

The problem of course is keyless entry, I had it on two Mercedes but not on my Macan and don't miss it a bit. The cars involved are Kia and Hyundai and apparently the cars themselves send out a signal looking for keys ! Can anybody say what advantage having keyless entry actually gives you, on the Merc I had to double click the key while locking the car to close the fob down so it didn't give a signal out.
